About Me

Domiknow
I was first inspired to begin this blog in 2006 when I was living in Lebanon and briefly encountered the tensions of a divided society and the outbreak of war. I already had an educational background in International Studies (Peace & Conflict Resolution) and later pursued a degree in Anthropology. I am fascinated by human psychology, how we interact across cultures, how our different social systems work (or don’t work) and how we can improve them. Although conflicts are a natural component to positive change, I believe that violent conflicts stump our ability to construct a stable and harmonious future. A culture of violence prevents developments in education, health, economics, safeguarding the environment and so much more. I am convinced that the only way to truly cure our social ills is by elevating our human consciousness- our deep awareness of the self and man’s interconnectedness not only to one another but also the environment. I look forward to sharing ideas and exploring the fascinating ways of this world with you!

About This Blog

The idea of this blog is that the better informed we are the better we are able to make sound decisions. Therefore, if we "dominate knowledge" we can start sharing what we learn and have a "domino effect" as we spread our knowledge to others, hopefully also motivating citizens of the world into action, an action that will help improve the communities around us. This is the objective of this blog. Thus, the name: “DomiKnow”.

To accomplish this, I will try to have links to interesting and/or useful websites, especially those that bring out the points of view that we, in the Western world, tend to hear less. I will also try to post works that may help us understand ourselves- the human species and the fascinating mind that comes with it.

Second, the idea of the blog is to highlight positive stories of people who are working toward a healthier world, since they too often do not get the attention they deserve in mainstream media.

Lastly, I would like this blog to be a place where one can share their ideas, so I invite anyone to contribute while maintaining a sense of maturity. Think of it as a playground of ideas, opinions and thoughts! After lots of "playing around" maybe conclusions can start to form. Hopefully some creative peaceful solutions to certain situations can be produced or even just a better understanding of the world and one another would be good enough. Any suggestions are welcome and any 'tasteful' humor is encouraged!!!
